Nikah
CICA is pleased to offer Nikah (Islamic marriage) services for couples wishing to solemnise their marriage in accordance with Islamic tradition.
Eligibility
Full details on the Wali and witness requirements are set out in our Nikah Policy. The policy is also linked at the end of this page.
- Both the bridegroom and the bride must be at least 18 years of age. No exceptions will be made.
- Both parties must be free to marry — not already married, and any previous marriage legally and religiously dissolved.
- Both parties must enter into the marriage with full, free consent.
What You’ll Need
Please have the following ready before you submit your application. These are checked by the mosque for verification and safeguarding purposes.
- Photo ID for both the bridegroom and the bride — passport or UK driving licence.
- Evidence of the legal and religious dissolution of any previous marriage, where applicable.
- ID for the Wali, together with their relationship to the bride.
- At least two witnesses — Muslim, of sound mind, and 18 or over.
The Mahr must be agreed between the bridegroom and bride before the Nikah, and recorded in full on the application form.

Notice Period
We require a minimum of two weeks’ notice before your proposed marriage date. Applications submitted with less notice may not be accommodated.

The mosque provides the religious (Nikah) ceremony only. CICA does not organise or take responsibility for any other wedding arrangements — venue, catering, guests, transport, or otherwise — made by the couple or their families. Any such arrangements are made entirely at your own risk and discretion.
Please ensure all details on the form are accurate, as they will be used to complete your Certificate of Islamic Marriage.
A Nikah conducted at the mosque is a religious ceremony and is not, on its own, a legal marriage under UK law. Couples are strongly advised to also register their marriage civilly to ensure it is legally recognised.
