New Jummah Prayer Hall from Friday – 4 December 2020
After continued negotiations with Colchester Council, they have kindly agreed to give us permission to use Abbey Field Centre (adjacent Abbey Field Medical Centre) for us to pray Jummah every Friday, Alhamdullillah.

The first Jamaat will start at 12:20pm and the second will be 1:00pm,  We have a capacity of up to 75 worshippers per session, InshAllah subject to the following conditions:

  • We must fully comply with Covid 19 guidance.  We need to comply with the *Track and Trace * system to keep records of every participant each week with a strict booking system in place. We have created an identification card for each person, you must bring this with you when attending.  If you need a card, please come to Jummah where we will take your details and create a card for you.
  • We must maintain a 2 metre safe distance from each other with a maximum of 75 worshippers per session
  • Must wear a mask at all times including while praying – you will not be allowed to pray without mask
  • You must bring your own prayer mats from home and keep shoes inside a carrier bag
  • You must attend with Wadu
  • Wash your hand with sanitizers provided from the mosque
  • You must not be in high risk category or have anyone at home who is high risk
  • You or anyone you’re living with must have no symptoms of Covid 19
  • You must cooperate with our volunteers
  • Do not shake hands or embrace each other
  • You must leave within 5 minutes of Fard prayers
  • Entry and exit will be different and we will allow entry once first session has been vacated – you must follow this procedure
  • Please wait a few metres away from Jamaat area and from each other until you are guided to join the second session
  • Do not make noise or speak loud as a precautionary measure for Covid-19
  • Temperature checks will be available before entry InshaAllah to make it safe for all including volunteers
  • Parking at the Abbey Field Medical Centre is strictly forbidden. Entrance through  Circular Road South only.
The prayer license will be taken away if we do not observe the above conditions.

From Saturday 4 July 2020 the mosque will be open for worship with limited access.  Due to the ongoing building works, we are unable to re-open the Mosque fully, however, will open a small room for the 5 times daily prayers.  This room can accommodate a maximum of 12 people who must maintain the government social distancing recommendations.

Therefore, we request all to wear a face mask at all times while at the Mosque, request that Whudu is done at home and to bring your own prayer mats.  The Mosque will be open 10 minutes before the Fardh prayers and will remain open 5 minutes after the Fardh.

In respect of Jummah, we will try and book Colchester Firstsite when they are open to public gatherings.

Please ensure you follow the guidance below:

In accordance with the UK government announcement on Monday 23 March 2020 the Mosque has been closed until further notice.  We must follow the UK government orders to ensure the safety of our worshippers, families and the community as a whole.  We pray that Allah cures the world of this disease so that our lives can get back to normal and we may all come and pray in the Mosque once again.

Please check this website together with our Facebook and YouTube pages for updates, talks and bayaans.

We have daily Adhaan on our Facebook page.

We know this is a difficult period for all and we are all getting used to not being able to worship in the Mosque.  This may be the first time many of us will not attend Jummah and the Mosque but this is for the best for all people, Muslims and Non-Muslims alike.  If we adhere to the expert advice and recommendations inshallah we will be able to visit the Mosque sooner rather than later.

We should also be aware that such precautions were also advised in Islam and by the Prophet Mohammed (ﷺ).

Please see below relevant hadiths for us to consider during this time:
